Bryan Campbell, Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Bryan Campbell has a track record of successful innovation and product delivery with both start-up and established technology companies. He was Vice President, Engineering and co-founder of Toucan Technology, where responsibilities included all technical strategy and engineering development in the company. When Toucan was acquired by PMC-Sierra, Campbell became responsible for engineering management of the two design centers in Ireland. Prior to co-founding Toucan Technology, he spent ten years in senior engineering and management positions with Digital Equipment Corporation. He received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from University College, Cork and an M.Eng.Sc. from University College, Dublin.
Maurice Gleeson, CTO and Founder
Maurice Gleeson is a recognized leader in integrated circuit development and test and verification. He joined Toucan Technology from Digital Equipment Corporation in 1994. He was at Digital for eight years, where he held a number of engineering positions in Ireland, Scotland and the United States. At Toucan, he was responsible for major engineering project delivery and customer liaison. Gleeson was also responsible for engineering project delivery to PMC-Sierra. Immediately prior to joining Lightstorm, he was responsible for all engineering activity at the PMC-Sierra Galway design center. He has seventeen years experience in the technology and semiconductor industry, and Gleeson received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from University College, Cork.
Mike Lardner, Vice President, Engineering
Mike Lardner is responsible for all engineering project delivery in Lightstorm. He has a ten year track record of successful delivery of complex silicon and software products. He began his career with Eurologic Systems, an Irish data-storage company which was subsequently acquired by Adaptec. He spent a number of years with 3Com, working on silicon design projects across the company’s product suite. Prior to joining Lightstorm, he was a founding employee in Crevinn, a silicon and software consultancy. Mike holds ten US and Irish patents in the fields of silicon and software design. He received his B.E. in Electronic Engineering from University College Galway.
Robert Roden, Chief Systems Architect
Robert Roden has successfully developed advanced networking architectures throughout his career both in Ireland and the UK. Most recently, he was an architect at Intel Corporation developing specifications for network processors, security platforms and modular technology. Roden came to Ireland in 1994 to join Tellabs, where he developed architectures for carrier-class, next-generation switching systems and converged voice/data platforms. Before leaving the UK, He was a Consulting Engineer in the Network Architecture group at Digital Equipment Corporation working on telecommunications and router architecture. His early experience includes LAN technology with ICL and the first European experimental packet switching development with Logica. He has a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from Imperial College, London.
Wade Appelman, VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing
Wade Appelman is responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing and business development for Lightstorm Networks. Previously he was VP of Marketing and Business Development for StarGen, which was a market leader in Advanced PCI Express switching. Prior to joining StarGen, he was VP of Sales and Marketing for Zagros Networks and he has also served as VP of Marketing for the Advanced Networking Product Division of Vitesse Semiconductor where he led strategic marketing for the company's successful NPU, switch fabric and traffic management programs. As VP of Marketing for Sitera Inc. (acquired by Vitesse in the spring of 2000 for $750 million) he was responsible for launching the company's highly successful NPU. Appelman has also served as Sr. Director of Worldwide Product Management and Marketing at Cabletron Systems and in various positions at Unisys Corporation. He has a degree in Business Administration from Wagner College in New York City.
Malachy Rice, Director Of Sales, Europe, Middle East and Asia
Malachy Rice has a proven track record in sales, product and business development. He has held management positions in one of Ireland's most successful start-ups, MV Technology, which was acquired by Agilent Technologies. Within Agilent Technologies, he led the business and product development functions, guiding Agilent into a market leadership position in multi-million dollar business segments. Previous to Agilent, he was Head of Datacoms Sales at MCI WorldCom, selling the leading ATM, frame relay and IP/MPLS products of UUNET and MCI WorldCom. He has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Edinburgh, UK, and a Ph.D in Telecommunications from Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
