Mick Seaman

Mick Seaman is Chair, IEEE 802.1 Interworking and Security Task Groups. He is an independent consultant whose recent focus has been the development of protocols and operational methods for the deployment of Ethernet in public and mission-critical networks. Seamen co-founded Telseon, a Metropolitan Area Network provider using Ethernet technology in 1999 and served on the technical advisory board of Timetra prior to its acquisition. He was previously VP and CTO of 3Com's Enterprise Business Unit and managed the development of router architectures, software and hardware at 3Com, Digital Equipment Corporation and Acorn. Seamon was awarded the IEEE Medallion for Outstanding Achievement through Standards in 1998, and holds more than 20 patents in the field of switching system and protocol design.

Van Phung

Van Phung is currently Vice President responsible for the Global Solutions Strategy for the Fixed Networks Division at Siemens Communications headquarters in Munich. He was previously Vice President with responsibility for Siemens Carrier Networks operations in the Americas, Spain and Portugal, and in this role he shared his time between Munich and Lisbon between 2003 and 2004. From 1999 to 2003, Phung held a range of senior management positions within Siemens, including serving as VP and General Manager, NGN Solutions as well as Chief Architect and Head of Product Line Management for Siemens' SURPASS Business Unit in the U.S. From 1996 to 1999, Phung was the Engineering Director at Racal Data Group responsible for the development of DSLAM, frame relay access devices, access routers and NIC cards. Earlier in his career, Phung held various management and technical positions with Siemens and Bell Northern Research (Nortel Networks) in areas such as network management, ATM, frame relay, 802.6 MAN, AIN and voice switching in general. A graduate of Concordia University, Montreal, Phung has published articles in IEEE Communications Magazine and Computer Networks and ISDN Systems. He also served on the Technical Committee of the IEEE LAN conference in 1988 and 1989. He holds three patents in the telecommunications area.
